Everyone has been on holiday and thought “Let’s buy this business. farm or house” haven’t we, but most of us didn’t.

When the SARS epidemic chased the cruise ship, SuperStar Virgo from Singapore to Perth in July 2003, food loving sweethearts Lisette Monsello and Ian Campbell jumped aboard for Darwin.   After only a few balmy Darwin days the decision had been made that this would be their new home, but how?

Their combined entrepreneurial traits were put to work which lead to a new experience for food loving Territorians.  Now known as “Pizza a la Cart” the pair prepared to serve gourmet wood fired pizza from a custom built mobile kitchen at various venues around the city.

This would be no Billy cart outfit though, Lisette a rising star in the Perth restaurant trade wasn’t to be flushing her reputation, the outfit needed to be first rate and capable of serving quality fare to a discerning public.

Health regulations from around Australia were reviewed alongside the couple’s combined understanding of safe workplaces and love of good food.  The result was a very contemporary mobile restaurant, a wood fired oven built atop a mobile commercial kitchen.  Very heavy but highly manoeuvrable, it can be placed almost anywhere a car can go.

The pair are now well established with their second kitchen now on the road.  They are available for private parties where Lisette can work with clients to develop the “to die for” fare of sit down or stand up dining.  Otherwise people can enjoy an always changing array of gourmet pizza at most night markets and outdoor events throughout the dry season.
